Tips to ensure dental handpieces live longer in 2020

Before use

1. Before installing the dental handpiece, start the foot pedal switch to spray out the remaining air and water in the pipe, and observe whether the air and water are normal or not.
2. Install dental handpiece and bur.

• Wrench type : Install the dental handpiece on the dental chair, and attach the bur to the dental handpiece. Then gently screw and tighten the dental handpiece with the key, but not with too much force, just tighten it to the proper position.
• Push Button type : Press the button on the dental handpiece’s head to load or unload the bur, and release the button then the bur is clamped. After loading the bur, test whether it is in place by hand.

3. Start the switch of the foot pedal ,then adjust water to the right flow rate and adjust the air to the right pressure.Standard pressure range for the high-speed dental handpiece is 0.2-0.23 MPA.

Note: Do not step on the foot pedal switch before loading the bur, otherwise it will cause the clamping mechanism easily damaged.

In use

1. When using the dental handpiece, the dentists must be careful and slight, strictly prohibit the barbaric operation.Do not drop the dental handpiece to the ground.
2. No matter how the angle, dentists should follow the way up and down to pull to operate, do not use the lateral force.
3. Use the improving pen-hold dental handpiece,try to find a stable point and do the intermittent operation.
4. According to the different tooth position and the shape of the hole, replace the dental handpieces and burs in time, as far as possible to reduce the bearing wear of the dental handpiece.
5. Please a sharp bur because a blunt bur not only wastes time and energy,but also damages to the dental handpiece and even increases the patient’s pain.
6. In the use of the dental handpiece, dentists need to check frequently whether the bur loose, so as not to cause flying bur.
7. Choose different dental handpieces according to different clinical conditions (Such as a mini-head dental handpiece is needed in the treatment for pulpotomy of posterior teeth,which does not affect sight;and high torque dental handpiece with strong force is needed in tooth preparation).
8. When the workload of a treatment is too large, two dental handpieces should be used in turn, which can not only avoid damaging the dental handpiece by overloading but also can save time to replace the dental handpiece.
9. Do not use the dental handpiece when the cartridge of the dental handpiece swings badly in the radial direction or moves vertically. Do not use the dental handpiece when no water.
10. The air pressure and water pressure will change with the use of the dental unit, so in clinical practice, dentists need to check the air pressure and water pressure frequently, to ensure the normal use of dental handpiece.

Cleaning

After the using the dental handpiece, please clean as soon as possible, otherwise the dirt will be solidified and difficult to clean. Before removing the bur, please clean the detritus on the head with water mist, then scrub with 75%  alcohol. Or use a special automatic cleaning machine to clean thoroughly. Which method is used depends on the particular situation of each clinic.

Removing the bur

When removing the bur,just loose (turn)1/4 circle of the key.If it is too loose, the three-valve spring will top to the back cover and damage. After each use, should remove the bur in time to facilitate recovery of bur clamping for the the dental handpiece.

Maintenance (Oiling) 

The dental handpiece oil spray bottle is the most ideal lubricating tool. It can not only lubricate the dental handpiece, but also clean the bearing and the impeller.

1. Before using the dental handpiece oil spray bottle,please remove the bur (a wrench type dental handpiece can be turned upside down by 1/4 turn) , cover the head with paper, and insert the oil nozzle into the dental handpiece,to ensure adequate air pressure.

5. Should be fully oiled, sealed, and storage for the long-term unused dental handpiece.

Low-speed dental handpiece

Regardless of the straight handpiece or contra angle, do not test without loading the bur,ensure load the bur and after the fork buckle then can test it.

Oil to the front half of the low-speed handpiece and after finishing the oiling,make sure the air is normal and them install the contra angle and straight handpiece to use.
